Lover's Rhapsody
Capilano University Choirs
Poster for Lover's Rhapsody
The three Capilano University choirs present a new electro-acoustic commission Lover’s Rhapsody by composer sensations Andrei Diaconu and Taymaz Saba.
"Our aim with this piece was to show as many facets of Love as possible, in as many ways, and as uniquely as possible. Hence the rhapsody featuring reggae, filmscore, electro house, bossa nova and hip-hop styles, as well as soundscapes and a cappella choral sections. We tried to incorporate the whole gamut of Love as theme ranging from personal to Divine, with some themes sitting right in between. The texts we chose encompass old Latin and English poems and quotes as well as modern settings and poems written by one of the composers." Epic!! - also fun and beautiful!
Plus selections from Due West by Stephen Chatman. Tundra by Ola Gjeilo. Sleep by Eric Whitacre.… A delicious mix of the best choral music available!
Note - Two performances: Saturday April 14 at 8pm AND Sunday April 15 at 3pm. For more information, please contact the Music Office 604-984-4951.
